INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

International Women’s Day occurs every year on the 8th of March with the purpose of celebrating women’s achievements within the community and society. We acknowledge that life can be hard for women because of their multiple roles, for example, as mothers, wives, homemakers, career women and so forth. Maintaining faith and continuing to walk with hope when times are tough can be challenging. However, we are here to remind you of how favored you are ‘woman’. All you need to do is to keep encouraged and continue to push forward even when the odds are against you. In this women’s day I was inspired to look back in the bible stories of some of the incredible women who left a mark in the history. For example, the sacrificial figures like Ruth, the Moabite. In the book of Ruth, Naomi said, ‘See, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your
sister-in-law.’ But Ruth said, ‘Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following
you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die — there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you!’ (Ruth 1:15-18).
Ruth is my favourite Biblical woman of all. This is because of the loyalty she showed to her relationship with Naomi, her mother-in-law. After the death of her husband (Naomi’s son),
Ruth left her own people in Moab and accompanied her widowed and now childless mother-in-law back to her people, declaring that ‘your people shall be my people and your God
my God.’ God Favored Ruth because of her loyalty to her mother-in-law. In Judah, she found Boaz. A kinsman of Naomi’s called Boaz took care of Ruth and married her, providing her and Naomi with a home. Ruth’s gave up everything, including her religion, out of loyalty to her
mother-in-law, whom she followed into a strange land, knowing that she would die and be buried there. This paid off in the end. The happy ending in the story of Ruth shows that whenever we decide to be loyal to anything that we value, it becomes a success. Ruth valued her relationship with her mother in-law so much that she was prepared to make huge sacrifices. As a result of her sacrificial attitude and devotion she received prosperity.
My advice to you is that, just like Ruth you too can prosper in any area of your life if you are loyal to it. Be it a dream to have a job promotion, dream to have a well-behaved child,
dream to get married, or a dream to achieve a degree and pursue a particular career it’s all attainable. So long as you are dedicated and sacrificial. Finally, don’t be afraid to fail, failure is part of life. Do it afraid.
Be loyal to your dreams!
